Okay, so I’m an aspiring YA/teen author. I know that in order to be a good author, you need to be well rounded and explore other genres that would normally be out of your comfort zone. I’m pretty partial to books that have romance/love in it, dealing with family/friend drama, and with a little humor to it. I’ve recently read books (i.e. House of Night Series: books 1-5) and I realize I’d really like to hone up on my writing skills as far as adding some mystery/suspense to my stories and books. Does anyone have any tips as to writing good stories that will keep the reader in suspense and how to progress the story so it’s not always apparent that the protagonist will win in the end?

Also, does anyone know of any good suspenseful/mystery teen/YA books our there? Also, I’m a female and I’m not too crazy about books with a male as the narrator.

On holiday a few years back, I took part in a quiz and managed to reach the final only to lose out after what I consider to this day, to be a correct answer. The question asked ‘What ‘C’ would you associate Jeremy Clarkson with? ‘to which I confidently replied ‘c ##t’. Not only was I told the answer was incorrect, but I was asked by the holiday rep to leave the premises immediately! Has anyone else experienced such appalling treatment whilst holidaying with one’s family?
