I want to get a monopod for my digital camcorder. Is monopod helpful for using digital camcorder?

The reason why I don’t say tripod is because I find tripod very inconvenient to set up when I shoot video outside my home. Plus you can’t move around faster than you want to capture something.

However, the original battery that has been sitting for over a year will take a charge no problem. (However it only lasts for 15 minutes, hence why I bought a replacement.)

The replacement battery is only about 2 years old, and has not been used very much. Is there some way of getting it to take a charge again?
